Over-revved engine: what have I (potentially) done?

The vehicle is a new-to-me 2012 JK, 42000 miles, 3.6, manual, good service records according to Carfax.

I was driving, almost home, and mashed the accelerator pedal to the floor, and when I let off the pedal...it just kept on accelerating! It happened very fast, so I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I'm guessing the pedal got stuck in the floor mat. Slightly panicked, my first reaction was to clutch in, which I did, and which resulted in overrevving the engine. It wasn't long, maybe a second, but the tach was pinned at 7000 before I shut off the ignition and pulled over. I started it back up and drove home with no apparent issues - no smoke, bangs, or pops. Visual inspection this morning shows no leaks or anything out of the ordinary, and it sounds and feels normal today when driving.

I'm hoping that the worst that happened was some accelerated wear, but is there anything I should get checked out just to be sure nothing is damaged and waiting to break and leave me stranded somewhere?

My wife and I were returning from a trail where we saw some wild burro, so it was all worth it :)

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the over-rev, but I would worry about why your accelerator hung wide open. I would try to replicate the problem with the key off, pull the mats out…whatever you need to do.

Yeah, I did try to replicate the issue, so far without success. We do have those chunky rubber floor mats, so I could see the pedal getting stuck, but it's really just a guess at this point.

On a warm engine. a single, no load overrev isn't a major issue, at least not unless you have enough valvetrain float to hit something... sans that, you're likely fine. I think all JTEC and NGC's used by Mopar have factory rev-limiters as well, though not sure on the manual trans models (at least while they're seeing tire rotation).
