The first problem is that the power locks don’t work. The M38 fuse was missing and when we put one in, only the driver’s door lock works. Both front door lock switches will activate the driver’s door only. At least the fuse didn’t blow. Hard to believe that three actuators have failed…? Have...

    Generational JKUR

It’s a stock 2014 Rubicon with 121k on the odometer. One-owner, with the most regular oil change record I’ve ever seen on a CarFax. Factory leather seat, with some torn stitching, factory nav/bluetooth, Gobi roof rack. Virtually no rust, body in good condition. I’m glad it’s not lifted and...

    Generational JKUR

When I was a kid in ‘80’s, my family went camping and traipsing through the Rockies in a 1980 F-150. In 2019, I wanted to get a vehicle that could do the same and more with my own family and kids. I got a 2006 LJ, built it for moderate trails, and it’s been great. I work in Texas but visit...

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

My son came across a 2014 Rubicon with 120k. It looks pretty good; i’ll check it out this weekend and report back 🫡

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

Probably so. Are head gaskets fairly straightforward on the 3.8? DIY garage job for a guy who has tools and can follow instructions?

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I’ve looked at 4-5 now, and I’m finding that every jeep is going to need some money put into it, so I’m looking at older ones so I have $ leftover. I drove a 3.8 2011 yesterday and it seemed ok. What do I need to look out for on the 3.8’s? Are they more reliable than the 3.6’s?

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I couldn't find markings on the coils, but the shocks and adj. control arms are Rancho. Looks like they may have offered a 3.5" spring and then spacers were put on top?!? It was a bit unstable on the test drive, and waaay undergeared. And the dealer is 'no-haggle.' Too bad; the body and frame...

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I drove a Rubicon today on 37’s. It looks like ~5”of lift? Does it have a spacer on top of longer springs? Is one of the rubber pads the isolator?

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

Doesn’t seem like the NSG370 gets hate from the JK owners the way it does from TJ owners. Did they rectify some of the early problems with it? Seems like they must have to keep using it all the way through the JK run.

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I’ve downloaded the build sheet for each of these. The Sahara sheet does say 3.73.

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

Do you feel its underpowered/undergeared for its tire size? I have my eye on a Sport because it looks clean, but apparently it has 3.21 gears. I thought the 3.55 on my YJ was too tall, and the 3.73 in the LJ is just tolerable on 33’s. I couldn’t believe they sold 3.21 from the factory. So I’m...

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I’ll have to consider that. It’d be difficult with a private seller 2 hours away from me. I was planning on plugging my OBD reader in and scanning for codes, and hoping that any serious compression/misfire issues would show up there.

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

How did you arrange that? Was it from a dealer? Did they use their preferred shop, before you took possession? Or was it a private seller?

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

Definitely; the LJ is my favorite and isn’t going anywhere. My son has a civic but we want him to hand that down to his younger brother, and to replace the civic he wants something big enough to carry his large mountain bike inside.

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I thought that was mainly the 2012’s. Any case, I’m going to check out three next week, 2 2015’s and a 2016

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

Reading forums there seems to be a consensus that the 3.6 is a significant improvement over the 3.8 for power and reliability…?

In the market for a JK; how to know if it's lifted?

I'm in the market for a JKU for my college-age son. I have an LJ and a YJ and never thought I'd be looking at JK's, but here we are. I'm looking mainly 2013-16 and so many people put larger tires on them with minimal to no lift. Or there might be a larger lift. Are there standard measurements...
