All the stock bumpers and side steps on JKs non special editions are just plastic anyway. I recall being really surprised how light it was when removing mine.

I'd take them off. They can't take any actual weight and they offer no protection. It all depends on you and what you use your Jeep for though.

Man, I just tried to do a sensible set up for most things while still being able to retain just taking the thing out for drives or errands. It's all Chinese steel nowadays, I think the only difference is vendor QC and how you use it. As I've said elsewhere, just the realities of the global economy. Nothing is truly "American made" anymore just American assembled.
