What did you do to your JK today?

I've read one of the best therapies and most enjoyable times for senior dogs are rides. They to see and smell- just the smells are supposed to be extremely gratifying and therapeutic for older dogs.

What did you do to your JK today?

Really? The Walls? Can't say that in all my years in the residential construction business and real estate home inspections I've ever seen that.

What did you do to your JK today?

Sure. Popcorn ceiling is nothing more than skim coat with little styrofoam beads mixed in. It's easier to spray on than priming and painting drywall on the ceiling. I used a simple spray bottle and a 12" plastic drywall trowel and knocked out an entire room in a few hours. Takes more time to get...

What did you do to your JK today?

But.... you can use the Graco to spray water on that popcorn in a relatively fine mist and simply remove the popcorn with a flat edge. Comes off really easily, it just makes a huge mess on the floor.

What did you do to your JK today?

One of the handiest tools I've ever owned.... and I have a shop full of stuff.

Is this normal JK temp / behavior?

Obviously the optimum position for the temp gauge is dead center, regardless of where or how you're driving, unless you're off-road and changing the dynamic. First things first- check your coolant level and add via the radiator, not the coolant reservoir. Lift the front end above the rear end...

    Starting Issue

So, my 2014 JKU began this recently. After running for about any length of time, say, down to the grocery store. When I'm done and the engine is still warm, the engine cranks but acts as though it's not getting any gas, or any spark to the gas. What I've done to overcome just cranking the...

    First time JK owner

Gutless and a lack of power can be construed to mean different things. To cure the gutless, I installed a Pedal Commander- nothing but an electronic throttle response enhancement, but it does work. As far as power, Jeeps typically have a pretty decent torque rating to do what you want them to...

    First time JK owner

You have a 17-year old vehicle, and I'll guess the mileage on the odometer reflects that. If you've got a reputable mechanic who can give you a once-over on the engine and transmission, it'll likely help you in the long run. If you're so inclined, you can get an OBD dongle and add the Jscan app...

    My Late Mother-in-Law's CJ

Found these pictures of my mother-in-law, who passed in 2020 and her 1985 CJ. The pictures were taken in 1987 in northern NJ. The CJ was a soft-top with soft doors. The doors were stolen twice and my wife tells me how they chained the doors to the roll bar when it was parked. It came with the...

What did you do to your JK today?

I use a good old fashioned Scrub Daddy... the big one, paired with Krud Kutter cleaning liquid.

    WTF?

This is the result of the rash of TV custom auto fabrication shows like Texas Metal.... I got a dollar says this thing couldn't fight its way our of a sandbox.

Water leak into driver's side floor board

So, the AC condensate tube only protrudes thru the firewall a couple inches, and it's horizontal. See if this works for ya:

What did you do to your JK today?

It's a pain. And what I've learned over a few phone upgrades is that Uconnect no longer alerts for a text message and ask me if I want it read to me. I dunno what happened to that feature.

    Rubicon Red Accents

I think Red Rock makes the entire kit for $45.... which includes vents, glove box handle, door trim and the steering wheel. But good on ya for doing it with a rattle can!

2016 Rubicon Issue After Lifters / Rockers Replacement

And now the oil pump is not functioning properly as well. All of these are interconnected back to the front end of the engine. Timing chain, can shaft sensor codes, oil pump, broken tensioner.... I'd almost bet money everything leads back to the timing chain.

2016 Rubicon Issue After Lifters / Rockers Replacement

If that was an 8-cylinder engine, I'd think it was way out of timing and maybe losing a cylinder. Is it throwing any codes now? Have you done the stethoscope with the socket extension on each cylinder? Blaming another mechanic for doing something is fairly common, but I care more that the guy...

    J8 booster talk

20 years in the Navy, a law degree after, multiple residential construction trade inspector licenses & housing code inspector. Quick thinking on my feet- i just used it to my advantage for 55 years. I'm retired now, so I have time, lol, but thanks for the compliment.
