Does it burn oil on start-ups? I'm asking because if there is an exhaust valve leak it stands to reason there may be some white smoke coming from the exhaust on start-up.

I'd spray some soapy water around that area. Hard to tell from the audio but it sounds like an exhaust leak. The soapy water trick would tell you for sure.
