    2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread

In a complete shock, someone on FB told me that they used the OEM rear track bar with the Artec Apex truss kit and sure as can be, it fits perfectly and has a lot of clearance! The nodular Yukon cover I got may be problematic at full stuff, but I'll have to check that when I get everything...

    2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread

They say to "make hay while the sun is shinning". In my case, it's "wash everything while it's still warm and sunny!" I thoroughly degreased the frame, engine, trans, t-case, and firewall, then focused my attention on other nooks and crannies, such as in the rear crossmember, behind the rear...

    3.8 Noise

The 3.8L is certainly noisier than the later 3.6L and other modern V6 engines, but I wouldn't say it's a particularly loud engine (we have 2 in the house!). They are known for having issues with the exhaust manifold studs, which can make it a bit noisy, especially on start-up.

    Steering issues

The best way I’ve seen is to be prepared for it - use a JScan/reader and get the code immediately as it happens. It should tell you what speed sensor was acting up. Might be worth a dive into YouTube as well as I don’t have a lot of experience with it (though I suspect I will have to seeing how...

Rock Jock springs on my 06 TJR

You shocks must be pretty long too... I was running the Rancho's on my TJ/LJ and it was impossible to get the springs in or out with the shocks attached. Even with the shocks detached, I also had to use a spring compressor to get the RK front springs in place.

    Steering issues

What happens is sometimes when you make a turn, the bearing/hub will slightly pull away from the mount/retainer, causing the tone ring to slightly separate from the sensor, causing the system to think that there was a speed change.

Rock Jock springs on my 06 TJR

Yeah fair point - I saw the shocks connected and didn't realize you fully drooped it out. Those Currie springs must be quite springy to not unseat at full droop like that...

Rock Jock springs on my 06 TJR

Not sure if you meant to post TJ stuff in the JK forum, but that axle looks like it's gonna need to be pushed out a touch... did you center your bumpstops before installing springs??

    2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread

We had a busy weekend with my daughter in town, but still snuck out to pick up some goodies... A guy about an hour away had a set of five, low-mile 40" Patagonia M/Ts on a set of 17" Ram 2500 aluminum wheels (one of them came on an H2 wheel). I've seen these on Marketplace for a few months now...

    2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread

Making some progress on the Islander and even got a little lucky. I ordered 1x new backing plate and 1x "like new" backing plate off of Amazon. Luckily, the "like new" backing plate was actually a pack of two. I messaged Amazon and they told me to keep the second one, so I get to send the new...

New to the Jeep world and need advice

Unless you had a 90's turbo hatch, there's basically zero HP gain by a catback and CAI. Modern cars are not flow limited in the intake or exhaust, and OEM's have every incentive imaginable to make the max amount of horsepower and engine efficiency. The change in perceived HP is due to your butt...

    2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread

Trying to find a good spot to mount these rear brake hoses to. There's no good place that I could find that was obvious, so hopefully this one will work. I moved the control arms up and it appears to hit but it takes quite a bit of movement to get there. I suspect I'll be fully on the bump stop...

Bilstein 4600 shock replacements on 2008 JK (front nylock problem solved)

I've looked for some.. I see lots of JLU options, but not too many JK options (and they're most the black body options, not the Rubi shocks like what's on the Jeep now). I found a set of like new 2014 non-Rubi ones, but the guy will go no lower than $200. At that point, I'm buying some Bilsteins :)
